Times have changed through the generations – especially with lawn care and yard maintenance.
Just a few generations ago, only the very wealthy went to the trouble and expense of doing lawn and garden upkeep and maintenance, and even in those cases it was rudimentary at best.
Those with less financial resources focused their time and efforts on feeding and sustaining their families, such as with a vegetable garden and keeping livestock.
Now, home and lawn care and maintenance are much more complicated, time consuming and expensive.
Lawn care and yard maintenance can no longer be neglected.
Just try to ignore it for a while, and see how long it takes for you to hear from your neighbors about the condition of your yard and the negative effect its having on the home values in the area.
So, my poor husband spends a great deal of time in our yards mowing, weeding, landscaping, and FIGHTING OFF VORACIOUS MOSQUITOS!
I would love to be able to revert to the old way of spreading a bunch of wild flower seeds over the yard and letting it find it’s own way – providing a wild, natural beauty. Also, for me to get away with this, I would have had to be born at least a century earlier.
This infographic is a basic outline of the rudimentary steps that are needed to maintain a comfortable, attractive and functional home and yard.
