The following is my detailed transcription of the 1653 will of Richard Jaques. There is also a transcription of a 1652 will for a different Richard Jaques.
Will of Richard Jaques
MEMORANDUM that in the month of Januarye in the yeare of our Lord God according to the computat???? of the th??? of England one thousand five hundred fiftye and twoe and on or upon the ???th day of the same month Richard Jaques late whilest he lived? of Grittleton in the County of Wilts ??????? deceased being of perfect mind and memorye and having a ??????? purpose and desire to settle and dispose of his estate did by word of mouth utter and declare his last will and testament ??????????ive in their or the like words in effect following that is to say hee gave and bequeathed all his estate whatsoever ???? G???? his wife saving and excepting her pounds which hee gave unto his Apprentice and ten pounds more to the poore of the parish of Grittleton aforesayd And whomever hee had an estate for yeare in two ?????? his ????? and will was that all the ????? and ?????? unexpired at the death of ????? his sayd Wyfe should remarrie and ????? and hee gave and bequeatherd the farm ???? the two forests of Mr. Reyerds had further being moved by Mr. ???? to give something to and amongst his kindred aforesaid shee might doe it if shee would ??????? thereby that he left the same to the dis??????? of his sayd wife ??? all and singular which promised ???? hee the sd Richard Jaques was of sound memory and understanding and uttered and spake those or the like words in effect in the presence and hearing of the wittnesses, whose ????? and subscribed the marke of Mary Mill. The two and twentieth day of May in the yeare of our Lord 1653. issued out a commission to ????? Jaques the Relief and ??????? legatarye named in this will to administer the goods, chattels and debts of the sd deceased according to the terms and issued of his will there being no Executor named herein she being first sworn by ??????? of a ???????? commission well and truly to administer the same.
